About Me

I was born in a small coastal community in central California. As a child, I usually had a pencil, brush or crayon in my hand. Growing up I took every art class I could. After marrying my husband Marc, we eventually moved to Bend. The breathtaking beauty of Central Oregon is something that never ceases to amaze me. From the tiniest pebble to the grandest peak, there is always something to paint.
After running my own small business, Sage Custom Framing and Gallery, for 25 years I am now retired. I’m enjoying the free time I now have to pursue my desire for painting full time. I very much enjoy painting traditional landscape en plein air, usually using acrylics as my medium of choice. Studio work is a different story, employing any medium that seems appropriate to the subject. I am fond of just about anything from nature, especially rustic, weathered things that seem to tell a story. I often approach landscapes as still life, depicting subjects at close range in an intimate way.
For me art is a form of communication. I try to put a little of myself into every piece I do. Moods, feelings, life experiences, likes and dislikes, all these things and more make up who I am and also make my art truly mine. For me my work can be therapy, a release, a vacation, an escape or complete frustration!
